Carmen’s journey is one of resilience, compassion, and a deep commitment to community. Born and raised in Cuba, she built a strong foundation in civic service with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economic Sciences and a Diploma in Foreign Trade. In 2021, Carmen and her family embraced a new chapter by moving to Calgary, bringing with her not just professional expertise, but also a heart determined to give back.
Just months later, in early 2022, Carmen was introduced to CIWA through her local library. Without hesitation, she stepped into the Volunteer Program and instantly became a vital part of the CIWA family. From the very beginning, her passion for supporting women shone brightly, and she quickly became involved in multiple programs and initiatives.
Whether offering interpretation, helping at events, or supporting programs like Pursuit of Happiness and Girls Culture Club, Carmen has been an anchor of kindness and dedication. Her joy in volunteering radiates through every role she takes on.
